Will Mona be the new LTC? Let's hear from everyone, give your opinion and be heard. This is a great site and it is where your opinion really makes a difference, with positive reinforcement we can drive Mona to the top.

I think MonaCoin's way of proceeding is not LTC.
DogeCoin's approach is closer to MonaCoin.

"Use for enjoying" is the most valuable for MonaCoin.

Therefore, there is no need to fight LTC.
We can work together for the future.

Technically, both coins appear to be quite similar.

Both have activated segwit, and both are working on lightning network transactions.

Market cap comparison:
Litecoin = $2,800,000,000
Monacoin = $ 37,000,000

Litecoin has a market cap 75X that of Monacoin.

It would be GREAT if mona could get to a market cap of 1/2 to 1/5 that of Litecoin!!

In any case, the Mona blocks are far from full and there is plenty of spare transaction capacity, so LN is not an urgent need.

I personally like to see Mona used in a fun way, but I also like the idea of mona used for:

*Shopping / online payments
*Tipping on social media
*Issuing tokens similar to Pepecash (counterparty type tokens)

Assuming that mona is listed on the "white list" of gov't approved cryptos, there could be a large influx of investment demand and corporate interest, which would be hugely beneficial.

The important point is the strategy against miners.

Mr. Watanabe (who designed Monacoin) decided to reject botnets and ASICs.
LTC team haven't done.

Referring to some recent news, LTC keeps facing 51% issue.
I have less interest why LTC team accept such situation.
I just think it is too risky blockchain to commit.

I wonder if Mr. Watanabe and Mr. Satoshi Nakamoto are friends?

Just kidding............

I'm talking about the market, not technology.

BTC is compared to gold.
LTC is compared to silver.
I think that MonaCoin is bronze.
It is not a substitute for silver.

As the approach is different,
I'm just saying there's no need to fight in the same market.

---

If talking about technology,
the LN of LTC/Mona should be developed separately.

Here is some recent info on the 51% issue.

WARNING: BREAKING NEWS: F2POOL REACHES 50.6% Litecoin Hashrate – 51%

http://betbybitcoin.com/warning-breaking-news-f2pool-reaches-50-6-litecoin-hashrate-51/

"F2Pool, one of the largest mining pools in china for Bitcoin and Litecoin has reached over 50% Network hashrate. This is an honest pool, but they are now in a position where they can call shots on the network if they were a dishonest entity."

*******

Does Monacoin face a similar issue? If not, how did they prevent/avoid it?

Thank you!!

This is also the important point.
Of course all Monacoiners don't think same way, but major Monacoiners tend to think "use-value is better than exchange-value".

So we Monacoiners provides some impressive services in addition to currency-exchanges. Monappy, Tipmona, and so on.

It does not become high-risk immediately even if a pool has over 50%.
Monacoin is safer than BTC/LTC because it uses DGW as the difficulty calculation algorithm.

Monaparty,

Thank you for this useful information.

It appears that Mona made an improvement over litecoin by switching the difficulty adjustment from Digishield to Dark Gravity Wave (originally used in Darkcoin/Dash).

I assume that the switch from scrypt to Lyra2REv2 was also an improvement over litecoin.

BTW Dogecoin has a market cap of $265M, many multiples of the Mona market cap.

Go Mona!
